Later she finds an eyeless Ray dead on the sidewalk. All she wanted to do was open a gallery, but first she must apprehend his killer. In a note she found after he died, Ray revealed he wasn’t just a leather-smith but a supernatural pirate mage. Years back, his Jekyll crew trapped the evil Demon Three Eyes clan. Ray had feared they’d escaped, were stalking him, and would soon wreak havoc on Savannah.

Oryn, a fellow student in Celestine’s continuing ed art class, is a fae and a thorn in her side, when he asks nosy questions about the case. Yet, she’s drawn to him when he’s her masseur at the spa she frequents, and he’s clever at brainstorming leads regarding Ray’s case. He insists his air magic could come in handy.

When pirates in Ray’s old crew are murdered, their body parts stolen, Celestine puts more horrifying clues together. She’ll need everyone on board, including Oryn and Luna, a mermaid asking to show her sea-glass sculptures at Celestine’s new gallery—the very same mermaid in Celestine’s tragic drawing of Ray. Otherwise, the lethal monstrosity Demon Three Eyes is unleashing on Savannah will destroy the city and everyone in it. About The Vampire’s Curse at Blackthorn Manor by Jade Christy:

A haunted manor. A deadly secret. A love written in blood.

With witches, vampires, and dark sorcery closing in, she must decide who to trust—especially Adrian de Lanier, the enigmatic aristocratic vampire who tempts her with passion as much as peril.

The Pharaoh’s Cat

About The Pharaoh’s Cat:

Permafree on Amazon Kindle

Suddenly talking and walking upright, a stray tomcat in ancient Egypt becomes the young Pharaoh’s intimate and, when accused of his murder, time travels to New York City and learns how to raise him from the dead.

The cat is quick-witted, wisecracking narrator as well as free-spirited, ever-curious protagonist, and the story he tells is an exotic, imaginative, spell-binding tragicomedy. The novel interweaves feline and human, past and present, natural and supernatural. It contains numerous surprises, twists and turns, intriguing characters, both human and animal, fascinating revelations about ancient Egyptian history and culture.

While exploring a looted tomb in ancient Egypt, the cat is kicked in the ass by the Vizier, the Pharaoh’s uncle and the second in power only to him. Able to speak as a result, the cat immediately gives voice to his intelligence and sense of humor and captivates the young Pharaoh, making him laugh for the first time since his parents’ death. The cat becomes the Pharaoh’s constant companion and, at the royal palace and on a tour of Egypt, participates in the festivities, developing an insatiable appetite for good food, wine, and gossip. Gradually, he renews the Pharaoh’s ability to enjoy life and inspires him to become a stronger leader. The bond of selfless love they share will change Egypt’s destiny.

The cat has a good friend in the High Priest of the god Amun-Ra and seeks his help in solving the mystery of his human powers and the supernatural manifestations that plague him. He has a mortal enemy in the cat-kicking Vizier, who hates him for his close relationship with the Pharaoh. The Vizier eventually murders the Pharaoh and accuses the cat, who flees by time-traveling with the High Priest to New York City, where they find an ally in an Egyptologist’s daughter.

In New York, they go to an ancient Egyptian exhibit, end up in Central Park, then at a cathedral, and later retrieve a lost spell to revive the dead. They return to Egypt to revive the Pharaoh, but the spell fails to work till Bastet appears to ask the cat to give his life in return for the Pharaoh’s. He says yes, but Bastet only needed him to agree for the spell to work. The Pharaoh is resurrected, kills the Vizier in battle, then returns to the world above after making the High Priest pharaoh in his place.

The High Priest reigns for seven years with the cat at his side. A rebellion forces them to return to New York City, where they find Elena pregnant with the High Priest’s child. For her, only months have passed. The cat immediately senses that the child she carries is the Pharaoh reincarnated.

The Eye of Nefertiti: A Pharaoh’s Cat Novel by Maria Luisa Lang

About The Eye of Nefertiti: A Pharaoh’s Cat Novel by Maria Luisa Lang:

Permafree on Amazon Kindle

Now a New Yorker, the Pharaoh’s cat–the ancient Egyptian feline with human powers–travels back in time to free Egypt’s legendary Queen Nefertiti from a horrific curse, discovering firsthand why her mummy has never been found and her famous bust is missing one eye.

As in the first Pharaoh’s cat novel, the cat is quick-witted, wisecracking narrator as well as free-spirited, ever-curious protagonist, and the story he tells is an exotic, imaginative, spell-binding tragicomedy. The Eye of Nefertiti also interweaves feline and human, past and present, natural and supernatural. It too contains numerous surprises, twists and turns, intriguing characters, both human and animal, fascinating revelations about ancient Egyptian history and culture. Added to all this is an ingenious use of the Tarot and Italian opera.

The cat is living happily in New York City with the High Priest, Elena, daughter of an Egyptologist, and their infant son, the cat’s beloved Pharaoh reincarnated, when the supernatural gradually intrudes in the form of phantasms, the plot of an Italian opera, a Tarot card reading, and an unexpected summons to present-day Bath Spa disguised as an opportunity for Elena.

She and the little Pharaoh travel conventionally while the cat and the High Priest take the little boat they use for time travel and are diverted to ancient Stonehenge for a brief stop-over. The figure at the center of their encounter with the Druids has been prefigured in the cat’s phantasms, the Italian opera, and the Tarot reading, all his uncanny experiences being in accord with a single design.

Reunited with Elena and the infant Pharaoh in Bath, the cat and the High Priest discover a secret tomb below the Georgian house where they are staying, and are soon impelled to journey to ancient Egypt in the time of Queen Nefertiti to save her from a horrific curse. They become separated as they search for Nefertiti and the cat has several adventures before finding her on his own.

He undertakes an ingenious deception to stay close to her without revealing his identity. Being so close, he falls in love with her. He succeeds in lifting the horrific curse at great cost to himself. Despite his love, he surrenders Nefertiti to history and, mourning his loss, descends into a psychological abyss so deep only the Pharaoh can save him.

Featured Author Victor L. Lockwood

Featured Interview With Victor L. Lockwood

Tell us a little about yourself. Where were you raised? Where do you live now?
My name is Victor L. Lockwood and I am an author, a digital artist, a web designer and a criminologist. I was born and raised in Spain, always surrounded by cats and dogs, and I can say that, despite loving to travel, I still remain at the same place – cats and dogs included.

At what age did you realize your fascination with books? When did you start writing?
It started during my teens, when I began aching for a refuge from the world around me. I had tried a few times to write something down but it took me a bit to find my voice. The first steps where when I was sixteen, that’s when I finished my first novel.

Who are your favorite authors to read? What is your favorite genre to read. Who Inspires you in your writings?
I’ve quite enjoyed reading Agatha Christie, Paul Sussman and Phillip Margolin. Despite me loving to write high fantasy, most of what I have read are thrillers and mystery novels. I love the suspense of diving into a murder mystery and trying to figure out how it happened, why or who is the culprit, especially when they are accurate – the criminologist in me feels particularly satisfied.

On the other hand, and even if horror is not my go to, Lovecraft has managed to capture me with many of his stories.

Tell us a little about your latest book?
Empire of Ravens is the first book of a series called Chronicles of Fenirion. It is a high fantasy story with classic elements like witches, mages, elves or dragons and fantastical lands to take your breath away!
It tells the story of Valora Rhen – the Lightwielder – who finds herself on a mission to stop a sect of evil witches from surrendering the world to their wicked deity. Dinah and Nathan, a fenirian witch and a bard, join her in this heroic quest, not realizing how much their past will compromise their future…
If you enjoy worldbuilding and complex characters, then it is the story for you. Despite the fantasy setting and the magical touches, these characters are meant to be human, relatable, and this story delves on topics like the sense of belonging, finding home, figuring one’s identity or accepting oneself.
This journey took me two years to finish, and I poured all I had in it. My own struggles, the love, the pain, the sadness and the hope and hoplessness. But also my experiences, from little moments in an ordinary day to the inspiration I’ve gotten from travelling – particularly, Edinburgh and Scotland.

I’ve always been curious and loved books that made me think differently. But I really got hooked in my twenties when I discovered personal development and non-fiction. I started writing seriously during the pandemic, combining my interests in marketing, activities, and self-growth.

Featured Interview With KD Sherrinford

Tell us a little about yourself. Where were you raised? Where do you live now?
I was born and raised in Preston, in the UK. I have lived on the Fylde Coast for over thirty years with my husband John and our two children.
I came late to writing; only after a trip to the London Sherlock Holmes Museum in 2019 did I gain inspiration to write my first novel, ” Song for Someone”, Book One of the critically acclaimed Sherlock Holmes and Irene Adler Mysteries. The book was a Finalist at last year’s Chanticleer International Book Awards for Romantic Fiction – The Chatelaine. A recent International Impact Award winner. Proud Editor’s Gold Seal recipient and Top Pick Award winner at Author Shout.
Book two, ” Christmas at The Saporis”, won First Place and Best in Category at this year’s Chanticleer International Book Awards Ceremony for short prose and Novellas.
My latest book in the series is the much-anticipated ” The Whistle of Revenge”, which has already garnered great reviews on Amazon, BookBub, and Goodreads and is considered by critics as the best of the series.

At what age did you realize your fascination with books? When did you start writing?
I began reading from an early age. I was fascinated with the mystery writers, Conan Doyle and Agatha Christie, who were amongst my favourites.
I loved Doyle’s iconic character Irene Adler, and was disappointed when she failed to appear in any further stories after ” A Scandal in Bohemia”. I waited years for someone to write a pastiche about the brooding detective Sherlock Holmes and the acclaimed contralto, Irene Adler (The Woman). The ones that did merely skirted around the subject without exploring its depths and endless possibilities. So encouraged by my daughter Katie, I wrote my adaptation. It took over two years, but ” Song for Someone” was finally published in 2019, receiving five-star editorial reviews from the likes of Book Viral, Literary Titan, Readers Favourite, and The Historical Fiction Company, describing my novel as ” An evocative masterpiece, that masterfully interwines the nuances of Historial Fiction, Mystery and Suspense, into a tale that stands out in Contemporary Literature. Song for Someone isn’t just a book; it’s an experience!

Who are your favorite authors to read? What is your favorite genre to read. Who Inspires you in your writings?
The Queen of Crime, Agatha Christie, Conan Doyle, Lynda Le Plante, John le Carre, Ruth Rendell, and far too many to mention. I love a good crime mystery with intriguing characters and plenty of twists and turns to keep the readers guessing.
I also like Historical, period dramas. Jane Eyre is one of my favourites, and it’s a book every girl and woman should read. Charles Dickens is another favourite, I love ” A Christmas Carol”, it’s hard to believe Dickens wrote that book in six weeks with a quill pen. Puts me to shame.

Tell us a little about your latest book?
” The Whistle of Revenge” book four of the Sherlock and Irene Saga, is an exciting, enthalling follow up to Doyle’s ” The Hound of The Baskervilles”.
Featuring the deadly antagonist Jack Stapleton, who makes a spectacular return to the City of Milan, from his watery grave on The Great Grimpen Mire, in pursuit of his old nemesis Sherlock Holmes.
With the assistance of the Italaian Mafia Stapleton kidnaps Holmes beloved son Nicco as part of their evil masterplan, Operaton Whistle.
The book was released in January and gernered fantastic reviews on Amazon, Book Bub and Goodreads. Considered by critics to the the best of ths stylishly addictive series.
It was a real labour of love wirting this book with the help of my wonderful development editor Tony Waslin-Ashbridge, his knowledge of the history and musical nuances of that time, and the historical research that went into the book was outstanding. I shall be ever grateful for his thoughtful insights.

Featured Author John Egenes

Featured Interview With John Egenes

Tell us a little about yourself. Where were you raised? Where do you live now?
I was born and raised in Southern California, spent many years in Northern New Mexico, and now live in New Zealand. I’ve been around animals all my life. Some were pets, some weren’t. My first book, “Man & Horse: The Long Ride Across America” was about my travels with my horse, Gizmo, who was a partner more than a pet. I have cats surrounding me now.

At what age did you realize your fascination with books? When did you start writing?
Early on. By seven years old I had read all of the Dr Doolittle books (Hugh Lofting) and was reading classics like “Robinson Crusoe”, “Treasure Island”, “Huckleberry Finn”, and “Swiss Family Robinson”. I read about 75 books a year. I started scratching out stories, songs, and poems when I was very young, but didn’t get serious about writing until I was in my twenties, I reckon.

Who are your favorite authors to read? What is your favorite genre to read. Who Inspires you in your writings?
I don’t have a favorite author or genre. There are just so many, and I draw from all of them. Picking a single author or book is like picking a single color from a rainbow. It isn’t the color that’s beautiful, it’s the whole rainbow. But here’s what I tend to read the most: science fiction, murder mysteries (especially British), Americana, adventures, along with books about digital ecosystems and culture, and various dry reading like political and economic stuff.

Tell us a little about your latest book?
It’s called “The Marfa Blues: searching for treasure”. It’s set in Marfa, Texas in 1968, though the story starts a hundred years before that, in Mexico. It features Vera DeSoto, who runs a cafe and who ends up with a collection of strays, people lost and looking for second chances. They include a 14 year old girl, a couple of hippie boys, and a young artist on the run from her ex-boyfriend. There are drugs and outlaws, freight trains, giant cloned cows, and a hunt for buried treasure. The book has it all [grin].
