Picasso’s Motorcycle by Marc Sercomb

About Featured Book: Picasso's Motorcycle by Marc Sercomb

ONLY 0.99 FROM FEBRUARY 21ST THRU THE 27TH!
France, 1940.
An unexpected gift of an old motorcycle with a tragically romantic past hurls a young orphan into the thick of things as war breaks out and his life changes forever. Half-French/half-German Daniel must find a way to survive in a world that mercy seems to have abandoned. This book transports the reader to Nazi-occupied France, where Daniel unwittingly and unexpectedly finds himself working for the Resistance, and ultimately to the Russian Front in a twist of fate so startling that no one can see it coming. In turn quirky, heartwarming, beguiling and uncompromising, author Marc Sercomb weaves together many moods and colors to tell young Daniel’s story. Beyond engaging, Picasso’s Motorcycle has been hailed as a genuine “page-turner” by those who have so far encountered it.

Born in Space: Unlocking Destiny by Jeremy Clift

Born in Space: Unlocking Destiny by Jeremy Clift

AN EMOTIONAL ROLLER-COASTER RIDE TO THE EDGE OF THE UNIVERSE
When Teagan Ward claims seven babies, conceived artificially after she donated her eggs to a medical experiment aboard a rotating space habitat, are her children, she triggers a fight that consumes her life in a race against time to free her from the clutches of an unscrupulous doctor and a power-mad general.
“Born in Space: Unlocking Destiny” chronicles a gripping tale of sacrifice and redemption in which desire and ambition collide. As a ruthless mining consortium tightens its grip on the lucrative interstellar asteroid mining business, Teagan finds herself at the epicenter of a battle for control that spans the planets. Her seven children, born in a lab as part of a daring experiment to populate future space colonies, become pawns in a larger game of power and ambition.
Only the fragment of a distant solar system discovered in a captured asteroid has the lure to win her freedom and unlock the children’s destiny. When a greedy businessman, an unethical scientist, and an unhinged general all covet its remarkable energy, one of the children spies an opportunity to orchestrate the reunion they’ve long desired.
“Born in Space” is the thought-provoking first book in the Sci-fi Galaxy series of speculative science fiction novels. If you like strong female characters, moral dilemmas, and stories of alien encounters, then you’ll love Jeremy Clift’s rocket-fueled tale of romance and resistance.

In the tradition of Ray Bradbury, Philip K. Dick, and William Gibson, “Born in Space: Unlocking Destiny” is an enthralling journey into the depths of space and the human spirit. For fans of “Interstellar” and “2001: A Space Odyssey,” this sci-fi gem promises an unmatched immersive experience.

The Pink Dress: A Memoir of a Reluctant Beauty Queen by Jane Little Botkin

The Pink Dress: A Memoir of a Reluctant Beauty Queen by Jane Little Botkin

For fans of Little Miss Sunshine and Secrets of Miss America, this memoir from a national award-winning author reveals the reality of being the first Guyrex Girl in the 1970s. Beauty pageant stories have never been this raw, this real.

Growing up in West Texas, Jane Little Botkin didn’t have designs on becoming a beauty queen. But not long after joining a pageant on a whim in college, she became the first protégé of El Paso’s Richard Guy and Rex Holt, known as the “Kings of Beauty”—just as the 1970’s counterculture movement began to take off.

A pink, rose-covered gown—a Guyrex creation—symbolizes the fairy tale life that young women in Jane’s time imagined beauty queens had. Its near destruction exposes reality: the author’s failed relationship with her mother, and her parents’ failed relationship with one another. Weaving these narrative threads together is the Wild West notion that anything is possible, especially do-overs.

The Pink Dress awakens nostalgia for the 1960s and 1970s, the era’s conflicts and growth pains. A common expectation that women went to college to get “MRS” degrees—to find a husband and become a stay-at-home wife and mother—often prevailed. How does one swim upstream against this notion among feminist voices that protest “If You Want Meat, Go to a Butcher!” at beauty pageants, two flamboyant showmen, and a developing awareness of self? Torn between women’s traditional roles and what women could be, Guyrex Girls evolved, as did the author.

Choose You First: One Woman’s Journey Through Pain, Resilience and Hard-Won Healing. A Powerful Reminder That Your Story Is Far From Over. by Michelle Bishop

Choose You First: One Woman’s Journey Through Pain, Resilience and Hard-Won Healing. A Powerful Reminder That Your Story Is Far From Over. by Michelle Bishop

What if choosing yourself first was the most powerful gift you could give to those you love?

As women, it’s almost natural to forget about what we need and put everyone else first. It seems to be part of the mom/daughter/sister package that we’re born with.

But putting yourself last doesn’t do anyone any good. It leaves you tired, drained, and fresh out of creative solutions to everyday problems.

But here’s the thing…

The habit of putting yourself last doesn’t come out of nowhere. How you were raised has an immense impact on how you are as an adult—more than you can imagine.

From self-worth to confidence to your ability to say no and set healthy boundaries. It’s all influenced by those early years.

In Michelle Bishop’s memoir, Choose You First, the author opens her heart to share her deeply personal journey from chaos to self-love. Through candid stories of resilience, she takes you on a path from the struggles of her tumultuous childhood to the healing moments that reshaped her sense of worth.

In this book, she gives you the tools she developed through her most difficult times to help you step further, deeper, and bigger into your life.

Whether you’re seeking hope, healing, or inspiration, Choose You First provides the courage and wisdom to take that step into a future full of love and fulfillment.

As well as learning how to overcome personal trauma, develop inner strength, and choose yourself in a world that often asks you to do the opposite, this book shows you:

The importance of self-love and why it is not selfish to put yourself first.
How to overcome personal trauma and use it as a foundation for growth.
Practical ways to set boundaries with others to protect your well-being.
The value of resilience and how to find inner strength even in the darkest times.
How to recognize and break free from destructive patterns learned in childhood.
Techniques for silencing self-doubt and building genuine self-worth.
Why forgiveness, especially of oneself, is a crucial part of healing.
How to find hope and light within, regardless of past experiences.
It’s time to Choose You First.

Featured Interview With LJ Smith

Tell us a little about yourself. Where were you raised? Where do you live now?
I am a Scottish writer living in Perthshire. I was brought up in Broughty Ferry, a suburb of Dundee, but have lived in Perthshire for 25 years. I live with my husband, Ian, and have four stepdaughters. I enjoy gardening, cycling, going to the theatre and cinema, and meeting up with friends as often as possible. I am very lucky to live in a beautiful part of Scotland where enjoying the outdoors is easy.

At what age did you realize your fascination with books? When did you start writing?
I have enjoyed reading for as long as I can remember. My parents were very keen readers who took me and my sister to our local library every week. I did some writing during my student years but never tried to have anything published and once I was working full-time the idea of becoming a writer was shelved. I took early retirement in 2019 after a 34 year career in education to write seriously. My first novel, ‘Listen To Mother’, was published on 16.01.25 by Blossom Spring Publishing. I have completed a second novel, a family saga examining the power of the family to influence life choices, and am currently completing a third novel, a dystopian thriller.

Who are your favorite authors to read? What is your favorite genre to read. Who Inspires you in your writings?
I have a very broad taste in literature and it would be hard to say that one author or one book has influenced me. However, the books I enjoy most are those where the characters interest me and their actions drive the plot. I I had two choose four books to accompany me to a desert island they would be:
A Prayer for Owen Meaney; John Irving
Treasure Island: Robert Louis Stevenson
Burial Rites; Hannah Kent
Five Quarters of The Orange; Joanne Harris

Tell us a little about your latest book?
‘Listen To Mother’ is a psychological crime thriller. Lesley Hamilton is starting a new life in Florence when she discovers a dead neighbour. An inexplicable mistake she makes leads to her meeting Paolo Bianchi, an individual unaffected by the usual human emotions. His involvement in crime leaves him living in the shadowy fringes of society where the choices in his life have been made for him. The choices he now makes for himself lead to tragic consequences not just for him but also for all those whose lives he touches. As Paolo’s ordered life unravels, Gianfranco Valdi and his Caribinieri team must unpick the threads that lead to Paolo and his connections with organised crime.
