Operation Absolom

About Operation Absolom:

There’s an old saying in the Army, ‘Never volunteer for anything’. It has been said many times, so why on Earth did Steven Carter ignore it?

After volunteering for the Army Commandos, Carter finds himself cut off in enemy occupied Norway. It’s winter, it’s cold and the enemy are hunting for him. Can he survive against all these odds? Even if the Germans don’t capture him, can he find a way back to England?

This novel is based on several true life events. It tells a story of superhuman courage, daring and defiance. If you want to read about people who would sacrifice themselves so that others can sleep safe at night, Operation Absolom, is the book for you.

The Half-Known Life: What Matters Most When You’re Running Out of Time

About The Half-Known Life: What Matters Most When You’re Running Out of Time:

“I’m going down now,” I said to a young woman a few seconds before the darkness-my first cardiac arrest. As I returned to work as a behavioral coach, it became maddening to hear about all-consuming, everyday problems and misguided priorities while I fought to merely remain conscious.

The Half-Known Life challenges conventional thinking of success, identity, and personal change. Most often, truly profound change happens following events that shake someone to their core-a car accident, death of a family member, or cardiac arrest that pulls them into a moment of clarity. Priorities change when time becomes precious. Problems look different when you have no energy left to give them. Why wait until you’re burnt out or for a life-changing event to occur before getting real about your life? Who are you when all of the accolades and accomplishments are gone? What does how you manage your time say about what’s important to you-about what matters most? Get out of your head and get into your life, before it slips away.

Morphosis

About Morphosis:

In 1987, Ollie, his children from a previous marriage, Sam and Jodi Lee, and his romantic partner Dwayne start anew on a farm near a small and quiet farming community tucked deep in rural and open country.

Ollie takes employment as a deputy with the local Sheriff’s Department, leaving Dwayne home to help with toddler Sam and teen Jodi Lee.

Dwayne adjusts to his new role and struggles to balance AA support, his own medical illness, and tending Ollie’s children. He is met, also, with harsh homophobic attitudes from locals, most notably from the local pharmacist who refuses to fill his prescription outright, worsening his condition and allowing Ollie’s children to wear him to his breaking point.

Headlines explode when a high school girl is found murdered and Ollie works tirelessly in catching the murderer named The Visitor. Ollie’s eagerness and his drive keep him too busy to notice his family spinning apart.

Thus unravels a tense and unsettling queer character study that examines narcissism, codependency, and self-worth, and explores if we are truly capable of escaping the worst parts of ourselves or are we prisoner to our self-destructive cycles?

The Final Frame by Harmony Reed

About Featured Book: The Final Frame by Harmony Reed

Free for a limited time from 3/25/2023 through 4/10/2023

He sacrificed his family for ambition — but now they’re all he has left.

Cameron Parrish became Hollywood’s #1 action director by refusing to use AI-assist technology. Every film is a box office success, but neither fame nor fortune makes up for the fact that Cameron’s dying to make real cinema — an Oscar-worthy movie that will show the world he’s an auteur, not the clever hack that the critics make him out to be.

But mere hours after being greenlit for the film he knows he was born to shoot, director Cameron Parrish is diagnosed with terminal brain cancer. There’s no treatment, and if he’s lucky, he might make it another year, but more likely, he’s got a few months left.

As word gets out about his illness, Cameron realizes he has no true friends. No real family either: his obsession with finding perfection behind the camera lens has long since alienated his ex-wife and his adult son.
Desperate to make his final days matter, he signs up for an experimental program that promises to help him discover the meaning of his life — and his death.

Accompanied by an artificial intelligence named Sofia, Cameron embarks on a bucket list journey — from the Maldives and Bhutan to Toledo and Morocco — designed to round out his unbalanced life and help him make peace with his impending death.

But what if it’s too late for Cameron to see the world through a new lens?

Eat, Pray, Love meets The Bucket List in this vibrant but poignant story exploring the possibility of second chances and the unexpected beauty of an imperfect life.

About Featured Book: The Financial System Limit by David Kauders

Stock markets dicey. Again. Banks in trouble. Again. Consumer spending falling. Trade wars. Again. Households struggling with debt. Businesses with costly debt failing. Negative yield curve forecasting recession: thirty-year Treasuries much cheaper than one-year. And we haven’t got anywhere near the next financial crisis. Yet.

What is the common factor? Debt cannot expand to infinity, but one-fifth of economic output is spent on interest.

Featured Author Lorelle Taylor

Featured Interview With Lorelle Taylor

Tell us a little about yourself. Where were you raised? Where do you live now?
I grew up just north of Brisbane, Australia, but moved to the United Kingdom a couple of years ago, with my husband and our Doberman.

As well as writing spiritual books, I enjoy posting a daily angel card reading. I am also an advocate for animal and environmental welfare.

At what age did you realize your fascination with books? When did you start writing?
I have undertaken formal and informal studies of religion and spirituality, learning from spiritual teachers in the physical world and the spiritual realm.

In a similar fashion to the character in my books, my experiences with spiritual beings started late in life. These experiences, and the love they introduced me to, took some getting used to. In order to help others who may be experiencing their own spiritual awakening, I wrote my first book: Getting Used to Weird: A Very Different Sort of Love Story, which details the tools I learned.

Who are your favorite authors to read? What is your favorite genre to read. Who Inspires you in your writings?
My books were inspired by all of the spiritual teachers from whom I learned, particularly Neale Donald Walsch, with his Conversations with God books. I have learned from many others, such as Abraham and Esther Hicks, Eckhart Tolle, and Sonia Choquette.

Although I have read a lot of spiritual books, I also enjoy reading novels. These days I look for ones which are uplifting rather than depressing or frightening.

Tell us a little about your latest book?
My second book, WE ARE ONE, gives God’s perspective on Islam, Christianity, Judaism and Buddhism and expands on lessons learned in Getting Used to Weird.

My third book, Messages from the Light, is a channeled book, with messages from the angels and God. These messages are aimed at helping us move towards the New Earth, where love rules, peace reigns and everyone is treated with respect.

Picasso’s Motorcycle by Marc Sercomb

About Featured Book: Picasso’s Motorcycle by Marc Sercomb

France, 1940.
An unexpected gift of an old motorcycle with a tragically romantic past hurls a young orphan into the thick of things as war breaks out and his life changes forever. Half-French/half-German Daniel must find a way to survive in a world that mercy seems to have abandoned.

This book transports the reader to Nazi-occupied France, where Daniel unwittingly and unexpectedly finds himself working for the Resistance, and ultimately to the Russian Front in a twist of fate so startling that no one can see it coming. In turn quirky, heartwarming, beguiling and uncompromising, author Marc Sercomb weaves together many moods and colors to tell young Daniel’s story. Beyond engaging, Picasso’s Motorcycle has been hailed as a genuine “page-turner” by those who have so far encountered it.
If you like “The Book Thief” and “The Boy in the Striped Pajamas,” you’ll love this book!

Pray Without Ceasing

About Pray Without Ceasing:

God has been constantly reminding me to pray. Throughout my life, I have been burdened with trying to fight battles that only God could win. Ultimately, He laid a scripture on my heart from 1 Thessalonians 5:16-17 which says: “Rejoice evermore. Pray without ceasing.” (KJV). Since that time, I have been on a mission to use every opportunity I get to share with others that they too should never cease to pray. Starting and ending your day with a quiet time with God is always best. God wants to help us open and close our days wrapped in His arms of peace and comfort. One of the best ways to do this is to commune with Him through prayer.

This book has short passages of scriptures and prayer that are all intended to help you during your day. This book will also offer teachings on prayer to help readers overcome the fears and obstacles in their lives. As you read, I am confident that you will be more matured in your prayer life and become better at demonstrating what the Holy Scripture encourages us to do: “Be Careful for nothing; but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your request be made known unto God.” – Philippians 4:6 (KJV)

Combat diaries from elite operators and commanding officers dominate the space. But what happens when regulars face the fire?

Ronny Bruce is a renaissance man: philosopher, drifter, Gen X rock ‘n’ roller, and gentleman. At thirty-two, divorced and burnt-out with the burbs, Ronny bails on his teaching career and seeks army infantry. It’s no joke when boot camp is mandatory since his marine corps’ service ended ten years beforehand. Assigned to Charlie Company, 3rd Battalion, 509th Parachute Infantry Regiment, Ronny’s platoon hunts an Afghan foe who’s never surrendered. Half collapse from wounds.

Ronny’s decade-long postwar journey examines victory and failure. Realities include grieving over friends’ deaths and processing crimes or addictions of old battle buddies. Six men expire before thirty-five as a result of four suicides, one unexplained death, and murder. Labels for the living include felon, vagrant, drunk, addict, depressed, and suicidal. Ronny checks some boxes. Graduate, businessman, engineer, teacher, accountant, and rich describes other paths. Ronny checks some of those too.

War through the eyes of this offbeat ATLien provides explosive payoffs that get smothered by each turning page – answering an age-old question: what drives warriors over the edge?
