About 1889, Paris and the Universal Exposition by Michael Gotwalt:
1889, Paris and the Universal Exposition
The year 1889 brought significant change to the world, most of all in Paris, France site of the Universal Exposition. The Eiffel Tower centerpiece of the exposition, remains, after 130 years the thing that dreams are made of. Gustave Eiffel, Thomas Edison, Nikola Tesla, Henri Toulouse Lautrec, Paul Gauguin, Buffalo Bill, Annie Oakley, and countless others now famous to everyone, roamed the avenues of Paris in 1889. Into this world comes Eustace Wyatt and Lloyd Kane, photographer and writer respectively for America’s greatest newspaper the Herald. The publisher, James Gordon-Bennett has been exiled in Paris for 13 years but runs the Herald from Paris and has just started an international edition that we know now as the International Herald Tribune.
Wyatt and Kane are thrust into the obvious excitement of La Belle Epoque, and intrigue that has always been present in the world. Along the way they meet and befriend some famous characters, and some not so famous. Excitement and wonderment meet them at every corner as the exposition runs its course. Join them in a time like no other.
