Featured Interview With Lisa Dawn
Tell us a little about yourself. Where were you raised? Where do you live now?
I currently reside in Texas (sweltering) with my wonderful husband, amazing and spunky daughter, our two cats and three dogs. For as long as I can remember I have loved to put a pen to paper but I never had the courage to show anyone my work. Until now.
I just published my first YA book, A tale of two witches and I am working on two others books that will be ready to publish by the end of the year.
At what age did you realize your fascination with books? When did you start writing?
Growing up I always had a book in my hand, and at age 9 I discovered Stephen King and fell in love with the art of story telling. I began writing not long after that, creating stories and poems. I wish that I kept writing and followed my dream, but I believe that everything happens for a reason and back then it wasn’t my time to write.
My daughter encouraged me to start writing again and I am very glad she did. I forgot how much I missed it. There is nothing quite like getting lost in your story, becoming one with your characters, and live in your fictional world for a while. It’s a great break from reality and always puts me in a great mood.
Who are your favorite authors to read? What is your favorite genre to read. Who Inspires you in your writings?
I love to read anything paranormal, thrillers, horror, and romance. I like to read in a variety of genre’s and I currently do not have a favorite. As far as who inspires me in my writing, pretty much anyone I have been in contact with. If you know me and you’ve done something that sticks out in my memory, better believe I will find a way to include that into my story.
Tell us a little about your latest book?
I began writing A tale of two witches last year. It took me a while to write it because I was limited to when I could write. I have a day job and domestic responsibilities to take care of when I get home, so I usually did the majority of my writing while sitting in the car line waiting to pick up my daughter from school, or for a few hours each day on the weekends.
Lexi Reed I feel is my alter ego and I really enjoyed writing her. There were times I felt like I was Lexi (I guess I did kind of model her after me), and would find myself sometimes asking “What would Lexi do?” She had to find her courage and slowly began to realize she could do anything if she would put her mind to it. By the end of the book, she was fearless. I had so much fun writing this story and I can’t wait to finish book 2 By the light of the moon. Below you will find a brief description of A tale of two witches.
A powerful witch.
A jealous vampire witch.
A new love interest.
What could possibly go wrong?
Lexi Reed is not your typical, normal sixteen year old girl. She is becoming the most powerful witch that exists, and has always been told she is the only one that can destroy the vampire witch Leticia.
Leticia is power hungry and wants to be the one that is most powerful and take over the world. She knows the only way she can get what she wants is to get rid of Lexi and absorb her power.
Lexi started growing close to the boy that has loved her for so long, Kevin. Leticia takes Kevin hostage leaving Lexi to race against time, battling her inner demons along the way, on her quest to rescue her love and exterminate the vampwitch.
