Featured Interview With Kelly St Clare
Tell us a little about yourself. Where were you raised? Where do you live now?
I am the author of The Tainted Accords series. Fantasy of Frost is the first title, which was published on January 14th 2015.
I grew up in Waikanae, New Zealand, a small town with one set of traffic lights and mainly people aged over 60. It has other names for this reason including, the place people go to die or the Gateway to Heaven. You get my drift. I have lived for three years in Melbourne, Australia and now I am all over the place travelling. My latest destination is the Shetland Islands and they are absolutely beautiful. I had a lot of pets growing up. We had a few acres so there were the dogs, the cats, pigs, sheep, as well as other, less welcome, animals such as possums and mice. We backed onto a nature reserve so we got all sorts. I am actually a qualified physiotherapist. This is what I’ve been doing in Melbourne. I also enjoy playing my piano, guitar and vocal chords.
At what age did you realize your fascination with books? When did you start writing?
I feel like I came out of the womb reading a book. I can’t remember the exact moment where I began to read, its just always been this way. I starting writing little bits and pieces in my teens and then studied writing for a couple of years, leading to my debut book, Fantasy of Frost!
Who are your favorite authors to read? What is your favorite genre to read. Who Inspires you in your writings?
I just have so many. Jane Austen, JK Rowling and John Marsden are consistent favourites. But also Scarlett Dawn, Janet Evanovich, Laura Thalassa, Susan Collins.
Tell us a little about your latest book?
Well! It is the second in my Tainted Accords series. It carries on from the cliff-hanger ending of Book One. Olina is put through more trials as she tries to prevent all our war between Glacium and Osolis. It is a coming of age fantasy. The first book took me around 5 months to write. This book should take me less time as I’m comfortable with the settings and the characters now.
