Featured Interview With Jordan Petrarca
Tell us a little about yourself. Where were you raised? Where do you live now?
I was born near Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania (so I’m a huge Steelers fan) and then moved up to northern Pennsylvania when I was just nine years old. I have resided there ever since and now live with my wife and identical twin girls. Such a blessing my little girls are.
At what age did you realize your fascination with books? When did you start writing?
As far back as I can remember I have always been fascinated with books. When I was in first grade I was obsessed with “Where’s Waldo”, but when I began to read really well, my favorite book as a kid was “Charlotte’s Web”. I must have read it a hundred times…I started writing when I was a kid as well, but I really knew I wanted to be a writer when I was in sixth grade. For a writing assignment, I wrote a play called, “The Murder of Big Bird”. The teacher liked it so much she had me put on a play performance for the whole class.
Who are your favorite authors to read? What is your favorite genre to read. Who Inspires you in your writings?
My favorite authors are Maria Puzo, Stephen King, Robert Jordan, Terry Goodkind, E.B. White, Brandon Sanderson, and George R.R. Martin…When I was younger I was obsessed with Organized Crime novels, but as I got older, I became fascinated with fantasy. I love being taken into a world of pure imagination…My biggest inspiration is my wife and kids, no doubt.
Tell us a little about your latest book?
My latest book is called “Blood and Roses”. It’s a cross genre of Fantasy and Organized Crime, which takes place in a world where organized crime families possess magical artifacts that give them special magical powers. The power they receive from these artifacts help them ultimately control everything in the world. My inspiration for this book was my love for “The Godfather” and the “Final Fantasy” video game series. I have been told numerous times that I came up with a very original idea…It took me about a year to write it. The first half of the book I wrote before my twins were born, and then the second half I managed to finish the first six months of their lives.
