About Watch Us Begin:
Watch Us Begin is a coming-of-age poetry collection which follows the journey from adolescence into early adulthood. Written between the ages of fifteen and twenty-two, these poems give voice to the emotions of growing up: love and loss, nostalgia and change, mental health and identity.
The collection is arranged in eight sections, each one marking a stage of growth. From The Stillness to The Reflection, the poems move through moments of clarity and confusion, discovery and doubt, joy and reckoning. Together, they create a map of what it means to begin again and again, whilst learning who you are becoming.
Each poem is accompanied by a hand-painted watercolour illustration, adding another layer of intimacy to the words. The pairing of art and poetry creates an immersive experience, in which the reader can feel the emotion captured in both.

Author Bio:
I am Ella M Peebles, author of Watch Us Begin, writing for older adolescents and young adults, though I hope readers of all ages find meaning in my work. I hold a BA in English Literature from the University of York and now work as a Marketing and Events Executive at the Science and Technology Facilities Council. My writing is shaped by research into hope, grief, and resilience in Samuel Beckett’s drama, alongside my passion for human-centred storytelling. Beyond words, I love video editing, photography, travel, music, and piano. Creativity guides everything I do—on the page and beyond.
