Author Bio:

T. R. Dray is the pen name of Terry Dray, the debut author of the Rosa Underwood series, with The Whisper State marking his entry into the literary world. This gripping political thriller delves into the murky depths of Scotland’s power corridors, exploring how those in authority might resort to psychological manipulation and illicit means to sway public opinion and secure their positions. Set against the backdrop of contemporary Scottish politics, the novella intertwines ambition, ethics, and the fragility of democracy, challenging readers to consider the lengths to which leaders might go to maintain control.

Raised in Leith, Edinburgh, during the 1970s, he developed a healthy obsession with 60s and 70s television spy, cop, and thriller series. He spent his youth and formative years exploring Arthur’s Seat and the surrounding streets, providing him with a grounding in local geography and a deep appreciation for Edinburgh’s descriptive architecture. These experiences have significantly influenced his storytelling, allowing him to create vivid settings and authentic narratives.

Now residing in Dumfriesshire, Terry continues to write stories that celebrate not only the rich history of Edinburgh but also encapsulate the lives of its inhabitants. When not writing novels, he dedicates time to his other passion—screenwriting. With over 30 years of experience in short filmmaking and screenwriting, Terry brings a keen eye for detail and a penchant for uncovering compelling narratives, often with a conspiratorial twist.

In his spare time, Terry can often be found tending to his small flock of chickens or rearranging his vegetable garden, finding inspiration in the simplicity of rural life.
