U C Maduforo was born in the UK but spent most of her formative years in Nigeria country of her origin. She is proudly Igbo, and if asked she would say she is a perfect blend of Nigerian and British cultures. This mix of cultures and experiences helped develop her strong love and enthusiasm for celebrating cultures of all kinds.
Writing has always been one of her biggest passions with countless hours spent at an early age writing short stories and songs. Living in the UK she understood from her own experience growing up, the importance of ensuring children have and are encouraged to build a connection with their country of origin.
Uncle Gugi’s Wedding was born from that desire to give children an insight into African culture by sharing the experiences of a young girl as she witnesses a Nigerian wedding. Hopefully this will inspire the reader to be curious about their own culture and those of others.
