The Girl From Colombia by Julian Rodriguez is a compellingly written book and one that sets an insidious tone right from the beginning pages. With two evil antagonists in Mr. Johnson and Dr. Edwards. These are great characters and their personalities set the menacing stage for the book. Their individual psyches and personalities come to the forefront, and shine through the expertly written dialogue of each. This is a dark, foreboding Victorian tale, with an arranged marriage, a mysterious character in Isabel, and enough intrigue to keep this a fast paced read while conveying the tenor and culture of the times. Simply brilliant!
