Author Bio:
Christine Echeverria Bender’s searches for the secrets of past eras and cultures have enticed her into the ancient archives of libraries and museums, within the recesses of prehistoric caves, sailing aboard historic tall ships, joining a team from the Smithsonian Institute on an archeological dig at a 15th century Basque whaling site in remote Canada, and crossing the turbulent Snake River on horseback. Because of these and other endeavors she was dubbed the “female Indiana Jones” by Women’s Adventure Magazine. Such first-hand experiences bring distinctive vibrance and authenticity to Christine’s writing.
For her prior works of historic fiction: “Challenge The Wind”, “Sails of Fortune” “The Whaler’s Forge”, and “Aboard Cabrillo’s Galleon”, she’s been honored to receive research grants from the National Endowment of the Arts and the Idaho Commission on the Arts. Christine has also received the Outstanding Graduate Award from Boise State University.
The screenplay based on her novel “The Far Reach of Yesterday” has won three prestigious screenwriting competitions in New York and Los Angeles, and has been recognized by ten more.
