Sarah Wagner, on her way to a remote cabin in upstate New York, takes a wrong turn in a blinding snowstorm. Her car slips off an abandoned road, and Tracy, the friend who invited her to visit, isn’t answering her phone. When Sarah finally makes it to the cabin, Tracy isn’t there. Sarah is trapped, not only by the snowstorm and her abandoned car, but by the needs of Tracy’s young daughters. And as the search for Tracy escalates, so do Sarah’s suspicions of the people around her and their intentions toward Tracy’s children.

Chris Phipps writes the kinds of stories she likes to read: intelligent mysteries that are solved with brains, not brawn, and that are free of graphic violence, sex scenes and excessive profanity. She has also written a number of short stories, one of which was published in Saturday Evening Post’s on-line anthology of best short stories of 2015.
