In Rescued Tomato Seeds I share the many life lessons I discovered over my 19-week journey while I cultivated tomato seeds; seeds which I almost washed down the kitchen sink when I was rushing to leave the house to face a busy day.
I also included images to show the progress of the tomato plants along the way from planting of the seeds, transplanting of the plants to reaping of the mature fruit.
When I started my journey planting the tomato seeds, I never expected to face so many twists and turns. I had hope that things would go smoothly, and many times I even felt like giving up. Fortunately, I did not give up. When I started out, I never would have imagined the valuable lessons I learned along the way.
On reflection of the hurdles, triumphs and successes I experienced during the tomato journey, it occurred to me, isn’t life like that? There are always challenges to overcome. The tomatoes have become a metaphor for me as I navigate the challenges I encounter in life.
I was reminded of the story in the Bible where God told Jeremiah, “Arise, and go down to the potter’s house …” (Jeremiah 18:2). After Jeremiah observed the potter at work, God helped him to understand more about God’s working in the lives of His people; the 19-week journey with the tomato plants did something similar for me.
I pray that as you read you will gain insights to help you along your life journey and that you will find encouragement to continue to press on, no matter what comes your way.

Alison Blackwood has worked for many years in the area of human resources and she has also worked as a management consultant; her interest in change processes also resulted in her getting involved in helping organizations chart their way through change.
She has also sought to apply the change thought process to her personal life. Over the years she has recognized the valuable lessons that can be gleaned from the apparently simple things in life, and these lessons have helped her as she applied the knowledge in her daily living.
Alison enjoys learning and sharing her knowledge with others. From an early age she was fascinated by how things work, and this influenced her decision to pursue formal education in engineering.
A lover of gardening, art and music, Alison is fascinated by the harmony that God has revealed to her as she engages in these activities; and these areas have provided lots of inspiration and ideas for the books that she has authored. From the many benefits that she received from engaging in these activities over the years, she was impressed to develop the Treasured Fountain collection. As part of the Treasured Fountain collection, Alison has designed a coloring book and a planning journal.
Alison has also been a volunteer teacher in the children’s division at her local church for many years.
