About red dot 2 by Eugene Linn:
Aliens are long gone. They left no trace—except for thousands of mysterious red dots glowing peacefully around the world.
But eighteen years later, the idea that we are not alone is tearing us apart.
Former president Al Douthart and Claire Montague, who led NASA’s response to the aliens, struggle to provide direction and to heal old personal relationships strained to the breaking point.
Claire’s son and his girlfriend, ,the love of his life, are part of a generation that knows nothing but upheaval since Contact. Their search for direction is especially painful and confused.
Do we each have a fundamental goodness that will save us, or do we need an all-powerful dictator to tame us by fear?
And now, a threat more perilous than social upheaval seems to be emerging from beyond Earth.
