Maliche Rocker, Brin archaeologist, descendant of Maripa and Jontar Rocker, and an embarrassment to his family, discovers artifacts in a remote desert which seem to indicate the Kolandi, a species of humans native to Raince’to, the Brin’s new home planet, may not have gone extinct as everyone believes. Upon revealing this discovery to his mentor back at the university, he learns of a diary and silver medallion once belonging to Maripa. As he reads the diary and touches the medallion, Maliche is abruptly thrown into a vison of the past.
Maliche’s brother, Selan, next in line to assume to role of Head of The Assembly for the Brin, becomes entangled with the Mining Guild. The guild leader, Raencert, lures Selan into helping keep track of Maliche’s activities. Maliche’s visions continue as he reads further into Maripa’s diary. He learns of the first encounter between the Brin and the two Kolandi brothers. The Brin are barely hanging on as their crops are dying, succumbing to a local virus they cannot fight.
Maliche learns the Kolandi had not gone extinct, the Mining Guild enslaved them centuries ago and, through political influence and deceit, managed to keep their secret from the Brin civilians. Maliche also discovers the actual tomb of Jontar Rocker and learns the story of his life among the Kolandi. As he touches the tomb, Maliche is violently embedded with Karm’s biocomputer. Selan learns of Raencert’s involvement in the plot to kill Maliche, but is blackmailed into joining Raencert’s schemes.
Maliche gradually overcomes the Kolandi’s suspicion of him, and their hatred of all Brin. He eventually is allowed to join several raids on Brin mining facilities and helps rescue more prisoners, only to be captured himself. Selan and Raencert learn of Maliche’s survival and his capture. Selan, unknown to Raencert, activates his own spy network in the mines. He plans to take control of the mines from the Guild and Raencert. Maliche escapes the mine prison with the help of Nalot, Selan’s spy. Together, they help rescue another group of Kolandi prisoners and lead them out of the prison. One of the slaves saves Nalot’s life during their escape, throwing Nalot into a moral dilemma.
A series of battles ensue between the Kolandi and the Brin Mining Guild, Maliche’s forces. The fates of both cultures lie in the outcome. Will the Mining guild’s superior technology and power overwhelm the Kolandi? Can the descendant of The Rockers, aided by his ancestor’s biocomputer, succeed in freeing the enslaved Kolandi against impossible odds? Can the ancient promises of the Skae be trusted? Only time will tell.

I worked for thirty-five years as a middle school science teacher, but am now semi-retired, working part-time as an educator/performer at the Denver Museum of Nature and Science. I have been married for thirty-eight years to the love of my life. Together, we raised two incredible sons, and now have three incredible grandchildren to spoil rotten.
I was born in Kansas City, Missouri and lived in Arlington, Virginia before moving to Denver where I attended High School and eventually college at Colorado State University, graduating with a degree in Zoology and a teacher certification. My wife and I currently live near Denver in the small town of Parker.
My science fiction series, The Brin Archives is an epic adventure encompassing an entire galaxy on the verge of destruction. This trilogy, to my amazement and delight, has won critical acclaim and numerous awards. Who would have ever guessed this old, retired science teacher would become a successfully published author? I hope you enjoy my stories.
