Featured Interview With Venkatesh Prasad

Tell us a little about yourself. Where were you raised? Where do you live now?
I am a Graphic and Brand Designer based in India, working on visual identity, branding, and communication for businesses across different industries. I was raised in India and continue to live and work here. My journey into design didn’t start with a clear path, but gradually developed through curiosity and consistent practice. Along with design, I also write as a way to explore ideas around perception, clarity, and human behavior. I don’t have any pets at the moment, but I enjoy quiet environments where I can focus on both design and writing.

At what age did you realize your fascination with books? When did you start writing?
My interest in books developed gradually rather than at a specific age. I was more drawn towards observing ideas and understanding how people think. Writing started as a personal process, not with the intention of publishing, but as a way to organize thoughts and make sense of different perspectives. Over time, that habit turned into something more structured, eventually leading to publishing.

Who are your favorite authors to read? What is your favorite genre to read. Who Inspires you in your writings?
I am less influenced by specific authors and more by themes and observations. I tend to be drawn toward psychological thinking, minimal storytelling, and ideas rooted in real-world experiences. My interest lies in how simple situations can be interpreted differently, and that perspective influences both my writing and design work.

Tell us a little about your latest book?
My latest book is Inside Lock, a collection of 10 intense, gripping supernatural horror stories. Initially, I started writing it as pure fiction, but during the process, I shifted my approach. Instead of relying only on imagination, I began using real events and real incidents as the base, then reshaped them to add more tension, atmosphere, and uneasiness.

The idea was to create stories that feel close enough to reality to stay with the reader even after finishing them. Rather than focusing on loud or obvious horror, the book leans more toward psychological tension and subtle fear. Each story is carefully curated to build a sense of discomfort and curiosity at the same time.
