Featured Interview With Tanisha Singh
Tell us a little about yourself. Where were you raised? Where do you live now?
I’m Tanisha Singh, an author, public speaker, and researcher, currently pursuing an international BBA on scholarship while maintaining a top GPA. Alongside my studies, I’ve authored multiple books and contributed to anthologies, focusing on topics like mental health, women’s rights, and youth empowerment.
I was raised in India, where my journey as a writer began at a young age, and I continue to live here while balancing academics, public speaking, creative work, and preparation for a national-level competitive exam.
I also have a cute mixed Chow Chow named Meeku, who keeps life joyful and reminds me to pause and enjoy the little things amidst a busy schedule.
At what age did you realize your fascination with books? When did you start writing?
I realized my fascination with books at the age of 10, and that same year, I published my first article in my school magazine. Writing started as a way to express my thoughts and explore ideas, and over time, it grew into a platform to make an impact—sharing messages about mental health, women’s rights, and youth empowerment. What began as a personal passion has since become a lifelong journey that continues to inspire me every day.
Who are your favorite authors to read? What is your favorite genre to read. Who Inspires you in your writings?
I enjoy reading a wide range of authors, but I’m particularly drawn to indie authors on platforms like Wattpad. Their stories are refreshing, relatable, and often provide both relaxation and insights into self-love and personal growth. Alongside that, I also admire well-known writers whose work explores social themes, equality, and personal empowerment.
My favorite genres are those that spark reflection and drive change—social criticism, gender equality, and works that challenge societal norms, especially in advocating for women’s rights. These topics resonate deeply with me and influence the way I approach my own writing.
In terms of inspiration, I draw from a mix of voices—authors who challenge conventions, share bold perspectives, and bring attention to underrepresented narratives. Their work encourages me to write with purpose, to give a voice to the issues I care about, and to create stories that both inform and inspire.
Tell us a little about your latest book?
My latest book continues my exploration of themes that are very close to my heart—mental health, gender equality, and self-empowerment. Through the narrative, I aim to highlight the challenges individuals face in society while also emphasizing resilience, self-love, and the power of raising one’s voice.
It’s a blend of storytelling and social commentary, designed to spark reflection and conversation. What I love most about this book is that it doesn’t just tell a story—it encourages readers, especially young women, to think critically about the world around them and believe in their own ability to create change.
