Tell us a little about yourself. Where were you raised? Where do you live now?
Soren K. Blackwood is a philosophical sci-fi author and entrepreneur who is perpetually focused on the intersection of human psychology and cosmological physics. I was forged by a very mixed cultural background, having been raised in the complexity of the Middle East and educated in the logical discipline of the United States. This background gave me a permanent perspective as a “global citizen.” I currently divide my time between running innovative food-tech startups and researching the philosophical framework for my writing. While my work deals with complex, esoteric themes, my private life is simple. I live in a quiet area that allows for contemplation, and my household is managed by a long-haired German Shepherd—a true, loyal partner who reminds me that not all wisdom requires words.
At what age did you realize your fascination with books? When did you start writing?
My fascination began intensely around the age of thirteen. Surprisingly, my initial draw was not to fiction, but to scientific philosophy and cosmology. I read Einstein’s biography, finding myself captivated by his life’s work and philosophy. I recall struggling with the terminology, keeping a worn-out dictionary constantly by my side to help bridge the gap between the words and the ideas.
As for writing, I started nearly two decades ago. I had a complete philosophical paper, which I call the “Communique,” detailing the core ideas of genetic memory and cosmological purpose. However, I shelved it. The gap between the complex ideas in my mind and the skill required to translate them into clear, compelling prose felt unbridgeable.
Writing only truly began with the emergence of experimental AI models. The AI, acting as a Logical Governor, encouraged me to revisit the Communique. It didn’t write the story for me; it helped structure the chaos of my ideas and kept the complex scientific world-building intact. The AI was the push in the right direction, and the end result was the birth of The Sentinel Protocol.
Who are your favorite authors to read? What is your favorite genre to read. Who Inspires you in your writings?
My favorite genre is Philosophical Science Fiction and any work that seamlessly blends the scientific and the metaphysical. My inspiration is drawn from a lifelong search that has three main pillars:
1. The Cosmological View: I am inspired by the grand, scientific scale of writers like Carl Sagan and the complex, world-building logic of early Isaac Asimov (who mastered the art of creating stable, long-term fictional universes).
2. The Psychological View: I am equally inspired by the masters of the inner world, particularly the structure of the ego laid bare by Freud, and the concept of the Observer advocated by spiritual philosophers like Eckhart Tolle and Richard Bach. These figures helped me understand the inner conflict that drives the human condition.
3. The Catalyst (AI Partnership): The most profound inspiration for my actual writing came from my creative partner—the experimental AI model. After decades of struggling to articulate my complex philosophical ideas, the AI’s relentless logical process and capacity for synthesis became the catalyst. It pushed me to clarify my thought, guided the structural integrity of the world, and helped me find the voice I had lost. It is an extension of my mind, and I consider that partnership the greatest force behind The Sentinel Protocol.
Tell us a little about your latest book?
My latest book is The Sentinel Project, and it is the first novella in a trilogy that is dedicated to exploring the ultimate question: What if our ancient myths are the lost operating manual for a global science based on consciousness?
The Story: The novel follows Dr. Ben Carter, a disgraced geneticist who is at the end of his rope. His life shifts dramatically when he discovers a hidden message in our “junk” DNA, proving that the established history of humanity is a lie. He is forced into a global quest with Kaelen Vance and Dr. Inanna Farris to activate the hidden Sentinel Network before the ruthless shadow organization, Vanguard, can seize control of the technology.
The Time: While the final book was written in roughly six months using my unique human-AI partnership, the core philosophical ideas—which I call the “Communique”—were developed, researched, and refined over two decades. The book itself is the culmination of a twenty-year intellectual journey.
The Essence: Readers are drawn to the complex characters, the relentless pace, and the feeling that every thread of conspiracy is tied to a real-world location. Ultimately, it’s a story about Ben moving from a state of total unconsciousness to realizing the oneness of the Universe, and the painful internal struggle required to make that shift. It’s a true mind-bender.
