Featured Interview With Sonu Sharma

Tell us a little about yourself. Where were you raised? Where do you live now?
I was raised in Punjab, India, in an environment where spirituality was not taught as a subject but lived as a quiet undercurrent of daily life. Stories from the Mahabharata and teachings from the Bhagavad Gita were part of ordinary conversations, planting early seeds of curiosity about philosophy, duty, and human nature.

I currently live in Chandigarh, where I continue to explore and write about timeless wisdom through a contemporary lens. My work is driven less by religious identity and more by a deep interest in understanding how ancient insights can guide modern dilemmas.

Writing, for me, is not just creative expression; it is an ongoing dialogue between tradition and today’s world.

At what age did you realize your fascination with books? When did you start writing?
I cannot recall a single dramatic moment when I fell in love with books, it was gradual, almost quiet. In my early teenage years, I began noticing that reading did more than entertain me; it expanded the way I saw the world. Stories, philosophies, and characters started feeling less like pages and more like companions.

I started writing much later, when reflection began demanding expression. What began as personal notes and observations slowly evolved into structured thoughts, and eventually into a manuscript. Writing was never a sudden decision; it was a natural extension of reading, thinking, and questioning.

Who are your favorite authors to read? What is your favorite genre to read. Who Inspires you in your writings?
I am drawn to authors who combine depth with clarity, writers who explore human psychology, morality, and purpose without losing narrative strength. My reading interests range from philosophical works like the Bhagavad Gita to epic literature such as the Mahabharata, as well as modern works on leadership and self-mastery.

My favourite genre to read is philosophical and reflective literature, books that challenge perception rather than merely tell a story. I am especially interested in works that bridge ancient wisdom with contemporary life.

I am deeply inspired by the figure of Krishna, not only as a divine presence but as a strategist, mentor, and friend navigating complex human realities. That layered humanity is what influences my writing the most.

Tell us a little about your latest book?
My latest book, Shri Kṛṣṇ – The Unbounded Hero, explores Krishna beyond the boundaries of ritual and mythology.

Rather than retelling mythology, the book focuses on the psychological and philosophical depth of Krishna’s character, how He responds to doubt, how He approaches duty without attachment, and how He balances power with humility.

It is written for a global audience, whether spiritually inclined or simply curious about wisdom traditions, and aims to show that Krishna’s relevance is not confined to religion, but extends into everyday human struggle and growth.
