Featured Interview With Richard Daniel McCann
Tell us a little about yourself. Where were you raised? Where do you live now?
I am a native of the Bronx, New York, received my bachelor's degree from Ions College, and a master's degree in American history from the American Military University. I have appeared on videos and been on podcasts in connection to Irish immigration, and have taught courses in American immigration history and the U.S. Constitution through the Osher Life Long Learning Center at both Arizona State University and the University of Connecticut. I have published five previous books, four related to topics in American history, and one book of poetry. I reside with my wife, Aine in Dingle, Ireland
At what age did you realize your fascination with books? When did you start writing?
About age 11. The first short story I ever wrote was about the New York City blackout in November of 1965.
Who are your favorite authors to read? What is your favorite genre to read. Who Inspires you in your writings?
James Joyce and Fyodor Dostoyevsky. I like history, politics, social commentary and biographies.
Tell us a little about your latest book?
"There Once Was an Idea Called America, Elitism, Globalism, Socialism and Systematic Destruction of American Democracy," deals with the potent forces arrayed against traditional American values such as faith, family, community and the Middle class by the forces of radical ideology, mega money in politics, and Globalism's economic race to the bottom. The book lays out in the first six chapters some of the forces that got us into the present state, and the seventh chapter proposes ideas for a way to return America to some semblance of balance and sanity. It took over a year and half to develop all the research that went into the production of this publication, and probably another 6-7 months to actually write it.
