Featured Interview With Patrick W Kavanagh
Tell us a little about yourself. Where were you raised? Where do you live now?
I was born in Dublin Ireland. My dad was a labourer and my mum would read tea leaves and playing cards for friends and neighbours. She was scarily accurate! I moved to the UK about thirty years ago and I now live at the edge of the Lincolnshire Wolds. I have a black cat called Luna and a black Labrador named Finley.
At what age did you realize your fascination with books? When did you start writing?
I can remember sitting on my dad’s knee, as a toddler, and reading words from the newspaper. I could read before I began school, and I was borrowing my dad’s adult library tickets by the age of seven! I did not atart writing until after the passing of my late wife, Frances, – about ten years ago.
Who are your favorite authors to read? What is your favorite genre to read. Who Inspires you in your writings?
Jack London was a huge favourite. The Painted Man series by V.E.Brett was absolutely brilliant and absorbing. Non-fiction writers such as Lyall Watson (Supernature) and ‘Out of my life and dreams’ are my main inspirations for writing. I love inspiring biographies.
Tell us a little about your latest book?
My latest book is about Fairies. It is called ‘Faery Fact and Fairy Fiction. It combines stories, art, sightings, meditations and is suitable for all ages, – with adult discretion. It includes personal experiences and the experiences of others and explores the world of the Fairies in both the stories and eye witness accounts, along with my own musings.
