Featured Interview With Meghan J. Villatoro
Tell us a little about yourself. Where were you raised? Where do you live now?
I’m a New Yorker from Long Island who has lived in my husband’s country, El Salvador, for the better part of 18 years. Lord-willing, we will celebrate 20 years of marriage this year and have 6 kids.
At what age did you realize your fascination with books? When did you start writing?
In 4th grade, my teacher had us do a lot of writing assignments, and I loved it. It was the first time that I ever excelled at something in school, and ever since then, it’s been a dream of mine to write a book. As a kid, I used to stay up all night writing. I was supposed to be asleep, and I couldn’t turn on my bedroom light, but there was a bright street light right outside my window, and I would open my shade and write by that light every night.
Who are your favorite authors to read? What is your favorite genre to read. Who Inspires you in your writings?
My favorite genres to read are thrillers and Christian living. I recently discovered Colleen Coble’s books and have been enjoying them, but my favorite authors are Charles H. Spurgeon and Elisabeth Elliot. They both have such a gift for writing. Their words are inspiring and convicting at the same time, and I think that’s probably how my writing comes across as well. I hope that one day I can be half as talented as they both were in my own writing.
Tell us a little about your latest book?
My new book, Sanctifying Love, is a collection of Scripture-based prayers for wives to pray for their husbands.
Prayer is the foundation on which strong marriages are built, but several Christian wives have expressed that they find it challenging to pray for their husbands every day or feel like they need direction on what to pray about.
I wanted to give women a tool to help them begin praying consistently for their Christian husbands without feeling overwhelmed, and provide them with key topics to pray about. I spent some time thinking about the things I pray for my own husband and the challenges he faces as a Christian man, and turned them into a prayer book for other wives to use.
Sanctifying Love includes Bible verses, written prayers, and prompts for you to write personal prayers for your husband.
The heart behind my book is to help wives revive their prayer life and bring them closer to their husbands by loving them as Christ loves, with a holy, Sanctifying Love.
