Featured Interview With Marie Davis
Tell us a little about yourself. Where were you raised? Where do you live now?
Marie Davis is an Author, and a local Poet in Salisbury, NC. Her work has been featured in “Poetry Unbound,” at Rowan-Cabarrus Community College Poetry Exhibition and also featured for the COVID-19 Monument Memorial in Chicago, Illinois. Marie’s work has also been featured in various articles and magazines. She is also the Founder/CEO of Ria’s Beauty Collection, Founder of EBelle Adorn, Certified in Chronic Pain Self-Management, Administrative Secretary, and more, residing in Salisbury, NC.
Originally from New Jersey; and currently residing in North Carolina. I don't have any pets.
At what age did you realize your fascination with books? When did you start writing?
Enjoyed reading books at a young age. I started writing while attending intermediate school. I loved poetry; the free verse and the rhymes. Poetry is therapy for me. I did my writings for about a year and then I pursued other areas. Currently retired. I decided to start back writing poems again, and I asked my daughters what they thought about the poems. They said that they were great and that I should do a poem book. I told them that was excellent idea, and I wouldn't have considered publishing a poem book. I took their advice and published my second book.
Who are your favorite authors to read? What is your favorite genre to read. Who Inspires you in your writings?
Authors are Maya Angelou, James Baldwin, Nikki Giovanni, and others. Favorite genre are poems and nonfiction. Inspiration are my daughters.
Tell us a little about your latest book?
My latest book is Unforgettable Memories: A Journey Through Life. Based on intriguing poems and stories about a woman's journey through life filled with challenges she never thought she would have to endure. By the grace of God, she survived it all. It's about determination, strength, confidence, and encouragement. Whatever you may be experiencing, you too can succeed through those challenges regardless of how long it takes through your journey in life. It's never too late. You are not alone. Also includes humor, nature, self-esteem, and more.
