Featured Interview With Kim Petersen
Tell us a little about yourself. Where were you raised? Where do you live now?
I’m a Sydney girl! I was raised in the southern suburbs of Sydney, Australia in the hub of the melting pot. I moved from Sydney to Queensland when I was 21 years old, and have never returned as a resident. I didn’t stay in Queensland for long though – I soon discovered that while I adored the Gold Coast as a holiday destination, living there was an entirely different story. It was hot and crowded, and not nearly as glamorous as I thought – besides, I got tired of seeing those gold-bikini parking babes strutting about the streets.
I now along the NSW south coast and I have a cat. A lazy one.
At what age did you realize your fascination with books? When did you start writing?
As a child – anything fairytale. Golden Books were my thing. Teenage years switched to the Sweet Valley High series, and matured into books by Virginia Andrews, Jackie Collins and Anne Rice.
I started writing stories in my head long before I penned them. Somehow, I always knew I’d write books, but it wasn’t until a profound event occurred in my life, setting off a personally-transforming chain of events that I sat down and wrote my first book, Millie’s Angel in 2016.
Who are your favorite authors to read? What is your favorite genre to read. Who Inspires you in your writings?
Nowadays, some of my all-time favorites are Dan Brown’s, Angels & Demons, Sally Beauman’s Destiny, Harold Robbins, A Stone for Danny Fisher, and Bryce Courtenay’s, Jessica. I also loved Elizabeth Hunter’s, The Scribe.
I read across genres.
Tell us a little about your latest book?
Untamed Destinies is the result of a collaborative effort between myself, Beth Prentice and Catherine Evans. Those two women have been nothing short of amazing to work with and I’m proud to present Untamed Destinies: a romance anthology. Readers will discover that each novella contained in the anthology is true to our unique voices our audience has come to expect – Beth weaves her words around cozy mystery romance, Catherine has her sweet country romance flavor, and I delve into the mystical side of love with a little sizzle and touch of paranormal. I think readers will be delighted and entertained with the different stories found in Untamed Destinies – there’s something for everyone who likes a good romance.
