Featured Interview With Kelly O’Hearn
Tell us a little about yourself. Where were you raised? Where do you live now?
My path to authorship is a little different than most! I was raised in New York City, and my first career was a as a professional sommelier. So the connection to my intuition began there. During a health crisis, I turned to several energy practices, but the one that spoke to me was the tarot. I was drawn to this ancient tradition, and it seemed it was drawn to me—because I now have clients all over the world. I use the cards to channel insight through conversation, perspectives, and self-reflections.
During Covid, I used the tarot to investigate my past lives—and the stories just flew out of me, thankfully onto Zoom recordings! The Arcanum series follows five souls traveling through time, reconnecting until they “get it right.” It’s told through the experience of a 21st-century woman who is slowly understanding this past. I live in Florida, and sadly my dogs recently moved onto their next lives…
At what age did you realize your fascination with books? When did you start writing?
I’ve always loved books, but the writing really grew out of the need to share these unique stories, and it’s been such fun writing and crafting them. This historical, time-traveling romance is a Netflix series waiting to happen! That’s my ultimate goal.
Who are your favorite authors to read? What is your favorite genre to read. Who Inspires you in your writings?
I love science, so I read a lot of nonfiction. I love fantasy. The Outlander and the Empyrean series are two favorites. And the Harry Potter series inspires me still.
Tell us a little about your latest book?
Book Three is possibly the juiciest of the bunch! Arcanum: Secrets of the Madonna is inspired by the past life channeling I spoke about. In this story, the cards revealed that I was the muse and confidant of the Pope during the Inquisition atrocities in the late 1400s, so there’s lots of drama, set in the luxury and grandeur of the early Vatican. Our modern-day main character, Sarah, is a powerful CEO and “has it all,” but she’s experiencing all of the midlife questions that women ask themselves. It’s a fun beach read, and early readers are finishing it in record time!
