Featured Interview With Jennifer Florax
Tell us a little about yourself. Where were you raised? Where do you live now?
I grew up in northern Alberta, Canada. I now live in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. I'm married with two grown children. I've recently retired and am trying to re-find myself.
At what age did you realize your fascination with books? When did you start writing?
I've always loved books. I love being transported into a different story through words. When my kids were little I encouraged reading and used to take them to a book store for a treat instead of a toy store. I started writing after I finished university, I was an very adult student, and I didn't know what to do with myself after I graduated.
Who are your favorite authors to read? What is your favorite genre to read. Who Inspires you in your writings?
My favourite authors change on the daily. There are so many good ones. Genre also changes; I like anything that captures my imagination. Right now I'm into Fantasy Romance.
Tell us a little about your latest book?
Fire and flowers. A very apt description of what it's like to be a woman. Hot-tempered emotions, not to mention hot flashes, are balanced with the softer side. The nurturing, loving side that maintains the role of caregiver for everyone, forgetting to look after ourselves.
But we women are people too. No one told us the sh*t we would go through inside our bodies. It is a closely guarded secret that we each have to figure out for ourselves. There is no handbook to guide us through the messy process of womanhood-just trial and error. Well, starting today… there still isn't a handbook, but through sharing, we can ensure we stand together on the crazy journey of being a woman.
