Featured Interview With Dachri Chanelle
Tell us a little about yourself. Where were you raised? Where do you live now?
Dachri Chanelle was born and raised in St. Louis, Missouri. She was always a curious child and had a lot of time to herself to let her imagination roam since she was an only child. She would spend a lot of time creating her own make-believe characters and worlds as a means of entertaining herself. Who knew it would later be her passion.
She is an avid reader, though she stopped reading once she decided to complete one of her short stories which became her first published book “Window Shopping”. Her imagination still roams, but it is now even wilder and more creative due to the life she’s lived.
Dachri has been in many relationships and seen even more, that has given her entrance to the relationship platform. She has been a counselor, of sorts, since her junior year in high school and continues to speak with people even today.
At what age did you realize your fascination with books? When did you start writing?
Dachri realized her fascination with writing in the third grade. She wrote a story about a giant cookie man. When she received a good grade on her story she wanted to write even more. She continued to write, even into high school where she wrote editorials in the school’s newspaper. It wasn’t until teachers didn’t agree with her writing style that she began to second-guess herself.
Most English teachers required their students to use an outline to form their stories and research papers. But Dachri was and still is a free-flowing writer. So instead of starting with her outline, she would secretly write her stories or essays first and then go through them and pick out her outline.
Completely backward! She is also published in the school’s literary book.
Writing always came easy, and she continued to do so all throughout her different jobs. And on the side, she would write poetry and short stories to vent from all the things she’s experienced in life.
Who are your favorite authors to read? What is your favorite genre to read. Who Inspires you in your writings?
I don’t have just one favorite. I love to read Dan Brown, James Patterson, and Eric Jerome Dickey.
Tell us a little about your latest book?
I started on Window Shopping in 2013. At the time it was just a short story. But when I picked it back up in 2018, I couldn’t put it down.
La’Elle is the main character. She is smart, sexy, married to a super handsome guy with a top-notch career. They had a beautiful wedding and a fabulous honeymoon, a big beautiful house, and 3 adorable kids. They looked like the perfect couple.
Little did all of their friends and family know that La’Elle’s husband has a nasty temper and hands to match. And over the years she loses herself in her relationship and role of being a mother. Then one morning the straw dropped that broke the camel’s back and La’Elle runs. She leaves it all behind to go find herself and she honestly doesn’t know if she’ll find her or more trouble.
