Featured Interview With D.E. Ramey
Tell us a little about yourself. Where were you raised? Where do you live now?
I’m David Ramey (D.E. Ramey). I was born and raised in central Ohio. I’ve moved around a lot over the years, but I finally moved back home. My wife and I really enjoy the small-town speed and lifestyle. We currently live about an hour northeast of Columbus.
We have five German Shepherd dogs and one cat. They are Bookie, Whisper, Brin, Violence, Yuki, and Luna. My wife and granddaughter have four Ball Pythons and a Bumpy Gecko. My wife also has a rabbit that she takes with her when she goes out of town. She is a Travel nurse. The bunny’s name is Lexi.
At what age did you realize your fascination with books? When did you start writing?
The first novel I read, The Swords Trilogy, was over the summer between my 7th and 8th grade school years. That was followed immediately by Lord Foul’s Bane by Stephen R. Donaldson. After that, I was hooked!
I dabbled with a bit of writing in the mid 1990s. Finally, I began writing seriously towards the end of 2017.
Who are your favorite authors to read? What is your favorite genre to read. Who Inspires you in your writings?
Stephen R. Donaldson and Terry Brooks! R.A. Salvatore is an easy 3rd place! I love Fantasy, Sci-Fi, and Apocalyptic genres.
Donaldson really sets the bar for me in my writing. I wouldn’t say that I try to emulate his writing style, but to this day, everything about the Thomas Covenant series leaves me in awe. The depth of the characters, the structure of the plots, and the emotions his writing pulls out of me. That’s how I want to write. That’s what I want my readers to feel.
Tell us a little about your latest book?
My latest published book is Dawning: Book I of the Evil in the World Saga. It is the first book in a planned six-book series of Christian Apocalyptic Fiction. It is the story of a family trying to keep their faith and survive the end times as the world begins to fall apart around them.
