Featured Interview With Claris Lam
Tell us a little about yourself. Where were you raised? Where do you live now?
I'm a Chinese Canadian indie author – no pets, but I'm based in Waterloo, Canada! I really enjoy writing stories that inspire readers with hope, perseverance, creativity and happy endings.
At what age did you realize your fascination with books? When did you start writing?
I grew up listening to bedtime stories and reading many short books when I was a child, and I started writing ever since I was a child. I didn't start pursuing it professionally until my late university years, however.
Who are your favorite authors to read? What is your favorite genre to read. Who Inspires you in your writings?
I really enjoy reading murder mystery and fantasy fiction, as well as poetry!
I don't have a specific favourite author of all time. However, I have many authors that inspire me in my writing. A few examples are Jim Butcher, Meg Shaffer, and Daisy Meadows. I couldn't possibly list them all!
Tell us a little about your latest book?
My YA fantasy short story collection, "Found," contains dark retellings of fairytales with happy endings. One of my favourite short stories that I wrote for this collection was "Rooted," which is inspired by the Juniper Tree Grimm fairytale!
