Featured Interview With C L Barnes
Tell us a little about yourself. Where were you raised? Where do you live now?
C. L. Barnes is a reflective writer whose work explores awareness, stillness, compassion, symbolism, and the deeper movements within human life.
Born in a farming community in Australia, his early years were shaped by simple living, nature, quiet observation, and the rhythms of ordinary life before later moving into city life at a young age. These experiences helped form a lifelong reflection on awareness, suffering, the heart, human connection, and the search for deeper meaning within life itself.
His writing is not offered as doctrine, authority, or absolute truth, but as gentle reflection.
Through questions, observation, stillness, lived experience, and ordinary moments of life, he explores the possibility that many spiritual paths, symbolic teachings, philosophies, and human experiences may quietly point toward similar movements within the human being.
Awareness.
Presence.
Balance.
Compassion.
Understanding.
And the opening of the heart.
C. L. Barnes describes himself simply as a man who asked questions and continued reflecting on what life revealed through awareness, suffering, stillness, relationships, nature, love, and the movement of life itself.
Like many human beings, his life has moved through periods of both light and shadow, joy and suffering, clarity and confusion. Through these experiences came reflection, transformation, humility, and a deeper appreciation for awareness, compassion, balance, and the shared human journey.
He believes every person must walk their own path in their own way and discover what feels true through direct experience, reflection, awareness, and conscious living.
Above all, his work is written with love for life itself and gratitude for the shared human journey we all move through together.
We are all connected.
Love is with us all.
My heart is with everything.
Life continues moving.
Awareness continues deepening.
The heart continues opening.
All things move in their own rhythm.
Life unfolds, grows, and returns us gently toward the inner light within.
I honour the light and life within you and am grateful to share this time and space in life in love with you.
With gratitude, C. L. Barnes
At what age did you realize your fascination with books? When did you start writing?
Funnily I didn't have much interest in books until I met someone who was teaching what they called at the time Esoteric Training. This only lasted a couple of years before it stopped. After studying and wanting to know more and more about everything. I found that I started reading book after book until I got to a point where books didn't do it anymore and I just had to do the work.
After about 10 years of constant study in this area, I wanted to write a book to help everyone understand. It had to be a simple and small book which people could use to wake them to see what they are and the possibilities we each have. It took 25 years before it finally came out, and it ended up turning into a 10-book series, "The Inner Light Series"
Who are your favorite authors to read? What is your favorite genre to read. Who Inspires you in your writings?
Favorite Author is a hard thing to ask as I don't have a favorite.
I did enjoy some books written by Carlos Castenada in the early days. I then read some Deepak Chopra, Louise L Hay, Herman Hess, Lobsang Rampa and many others. One book that does stand out to me is called the Kybalion which is a book on Hermetics and the principles behind Hermetics. This book helped give me greater understanding of the world we live in and myself.
Tell us a little about your latest book?
My latest book is basically a series of books called The Inner Light Series. I was looking at writing one book, but it would have been way to big as it had to cover many different areas. It ended up as a 10-book series which the first 9 were published within weeks of each other. The tenth book, "Preparing for the Shift – Renew" will be out sometime in July. These books range from a small 70 pages through to a 150-page book.
Each of these books is simple and easy to read and they cover many different areas starting with finding your inner light, through to studying the Lord's Prayer, Karma, Reincarnation, The Living Earth and more.
There is no teaching it is mostly reflecting on these things and allowing the reader to come to their own conclusions. It also offers simple exercises and reflection points to the reader. These books are available from many online bookstores.
