Featured Interview With Aquah Goddess
Tell us a little about yourself. Where were you raised? Where do you live now?
I am a dark fantasy and paranormal romance author who has always been fascinated by the way stories can explore the deepest corners of human emotion. I was raised in Nigeria, where storytelling is woven into everyday life through culture, family, and tradition. Today, I continue to write and create stories that blend fantasy, psychology, romance, and the supernatural.
When I’m not writing, I enjoy reading, researching human behavior, exploring mythology and folklore, and connecting with readers online. My constant companion is my soul pet a peanut brown tabby cat who loves to curl into my lap and cause mischief. Writing has become both a creative outlet and a way to explore the complexities of love, desire, fear, and power.
At what age did you realize your fascination with books? When did you start writing?
My fascination with books started when I was very young around six, seven, or eight. My mom would tell me stories, mostly African folktales, but then she moved on to classics like Cinderella and Sleeping Beauty. She even read me stories from the Bible.
Once she realized I was old enough to read on my own, she would start a new book for me, read it halfway through, and then refuse to finish it. I’d be forced to pick it up and read the rest myself. She didn’t even realize when I transitioned into reading novels; I just became a 'book devourer,' reading every single thing I could get my hands on. I was constantly exchanging books with friends it became my escape whenever I felt unhappy or sad.
Back in high school, people would approach me and say, 'You need to stop living in books and start living in the real world.' But I thought that 'real life' was so boring. In books, I could be someone different someone extraordinary. Maybe that is one of the reasons I have such a deep understanding of human behavior.
I started writing seriously as a teenager, around sixteen. It was wonderful to see people love my stories and connect with them. I realized that writing was one of the few ways I could express things I couldn't even discuss with people in reality. I pour my emotions into my work; it’s not just a hobby, but a form of therapy.
Who are your favorite authors to read? What is your favorite genre to read. Who Inspires you in your writings?
My favorite authors include Nora Roberts, Enid Blyton, Sidney Sheldon, and Francine Rivers, all of whom have influenced my appreciation for strong characters and engaging storytelling.
I enjoy reading dark fantasy, paranormal romance, and psychological fiction, especially stories that challenge traditional ideas of love and morality.
My inspiration comes from psychology, mythology, dreams, and folklore, as well as the complexities of human behavior—particularly how people change when pushed beyond their limits.
Tell us a little about your latest book?
My latest novel, My Possessive Incubus Demon, is a dark fantasy romance that explores the blurred line between dreams and reality.
Raven has spent her entire life haunted by the same recurring nightmare: a magnificent palace of gold and obsidian, a mysterious man with a dagger buried in his chest, and an overwhelming sense that she has forgotten something important. Every night the dream ends the same way until one night, it doesn’t.
When she pulls the dagger free, the man awakens.
Azriel is an incubus demon imprisoned for centuries, and the moment he opens his eyes, he knows exactly who Raven is. He claims she is the bride who betrayed him, the woman responsible for his imprisonment. Raven insists she’s never met him before, but as dreams begin bleeding into reality, she discovers that the truth may be far more complicated than either of them imagined.
At its core, the novel explores psychological power dynamics, obsession, devotion, identity, and the many forms love can take. I enjoy pushing characters to their emotional breaking points because those moments reveal who they truly are beneath society’s polite façade. The story took months of planning and writing, and it remains one of my most ambitious projects to date.
