Featured Interview With Alfred Orero
Tell us a little about yourself. Where were you raised? Where do you live now?
I was raised in Naivasha, a town in Kenya. I then moved for work to the capital city, Nairobi, where I live now. I would like to get a dog someday.
At what age did you realize your fascination with books? When did you start writing?
About age 7. I was a quiet kid and books offered an outlet for me and were a source of knowledge. Though we wrote stories as part of our curriculum, serious writing started in 2013. That’s when I really saw myself as a writer.
Who are your favorite authors to read? What is your favorite genre to read. Who Inspires you in your writings?
I read a lot and I try not to discriminate so I read any book that seems interesting. The good thing is that you can tell a good book from a mile away. I like romance, fantasy, and poetry. I draw most of my inspiration from family, friends, and special people in my life.
Tell us a little about your latest book?
My latest book is “The Universe Lives In Me”, which is the second book in my poetry series. I experimented on merging two fields I am passionate about; poetry and statistics. Specifically, I sought to have more patterns in my work and harmonize math and rhyme. It was a fantastic experience and the result was 100 poems that scream or whisper depending on your mood.
