Shri Moongale stands on a platform for the first time. Her eyes are fixed on the tower Spike tapering far above the Iron Wall. Shri dreams of magical powers, of being able to help those who are downtrodden like she is. Inside the Spike, there is magic, Shri’s sure of it. Above all, Shri dreams of the outside world, the world beyond the Wall, where she could find true freedom. But she is a slave of the Pit, and as the least of the least, her dreams are distant ones, with little hope of them becoming a reality.
And yet, there is a shimmer of hope.
Today, Shri will take the first step trying to attain the impossible.
Today, she is entering the cruel game they call the Gate Run.
They say that no woman has survived the Run, and nearly every man who enters, dies. To turn dreams into reality, all must be risked. When she steps through the Gate One, she will meet exotic, terrible monsters, assured pain, betrayal, and a set of golden brown eyes…
When Shri simply hopes to survive and to find the spark of magic within, someone else knows a lot more about her and her yet undiscovered magical abilities. There are forces and plans at play, far beyond Shri’s understanding, but soon, all eyes will be on her, and she, if she survives, will have a world-changing role to play.
Will Shri Moongale make it through the Gate Run? Will she become what she is destined to become and challenge the evil brewing inside the Spike?

Elina is a fiction writer who fuels herself with coffee, wine, and candy. She loves fantasy books but likes to read some romance and mystery as well. Elina writes fantastic, action-filled tales about bravery, heroes, villains, and passion. Her mind is filled with exciting, fun stories and she can’t wait to share those with everyone! Elina considers herself a lucky one to have discovered her true passion in life— writing.
All started with one book when she was 13 years old: Dragons of Autumn Twilight by Margaret Weis and Tracy Hickman. Elina grew up reading Terry Pratchett, David Eddings, Douglas Adams, R.E. Salvatore and many, many others. She learned her mothering skills from Belgariad’s Aunt Pol and she is sure the Giant Star Turtle will some day trip over and that will be the end of the world.
When she was a teenager, Elina got her first computer. It was PC386. And yes. She’s that old. And so, she started writing stories with her computer. She has been writing tales over 15 years now; Short stories, long stories, bad stories and maybe a few good ones, too. The stories were meant for her own eyes only until one day she woke up from her haze and realized, that she actually wanted to share the stories with others.
Elina wants her readers to dive into the magical world and forget the troubles of this world. That’s what books have always been to her – an escape from reality – a portal to a dimension where is magic, wild adventures, amazing beasts, and where heroes can save the world.
