“HE’LL BURN THAT BRIDGE WHEN HE GETS TO IT…”
Tony thinks of himself as a good man. Hell, he did what a lot of men wouldn’t have done more than a decade before: married the white girl ten years his junior and completely wrong for him but who had gotten pregnant with his kid. Make that two kids. But Tony is also a veteran and stay-at-home dad struggling with depression and bipolar disorder, and that presents a whole other set of challenges. Still, for the sake of his two precious kids, he holds his shaky marriage together with duct tape. That is, until one fateful New Years Night, one that would change his life–and the lives of his two beloved children–forever.
SOCIAL HILL is the story of the decline of an interracial American family, told from the point of view of its despairing, often darkly sarcastic, narrator–Tony. Personal in its tragedy yet universal in its themes, SOCIAL HILL has been called “riveting…a masterpiece [in the understanding of bipolar disorder],” and Kirkus Reviews has praised it as a “dark…engaging…intriguingly realistic social tale, lightened by the narrator’s sense of humor.”

Jason Hill is on fire. Despite living homeless for much of the past year, having lost his wife and children, his beloved cat, his car, and everything else he held dear, he decided to seize the day and, while living in a halfway house last summer, write the Great American Novel he always wanted to write since he was a boy.
And now he has–and it’s getting rave reviews, from professionals and lay readers alike! Kirkus Review called it a “dark…engaging…intriguingly realistic social tale about a despairing parent, lightened by [the narrator’s] sense of humor. Others are calling it “hard to put down,” and using words like “raw, real,” with one recent reviewer even going so far as to call it a “masterpiece.”
