It’s not what you think. Despite the name, this book is actually about Liam, a fourth grader dealing with Celiac disease and the recent divorce of his parents. On the first day in a new town, at a new school, he accidentally uses the girl’s bathroom and embarrasses himself to the entire school. There’s help though. A substitute father figure has come to teach him about maturity and self-empowerment. The only problem is that Liam really, really doesn’t want help from poop.

A.J. Cosmo is the author and illustrator of over twenty children’s books. This middle-grade novel (which he mercifully didn’t illustrate) is based on his own real-life experiences dealing with gluten and dairy allergies. The hope is that the book reaches other kids in similar situations and lets them know that they aren’t alone. It would be good to get a few laughs in, too. 😉
