I was raised in Washington state and I live in Washington state after a brief foray to a few other places in the Pacific Northwest. I have had four cats but am now down to one. She prefers to be an only cat.
At what age did you realize your fascination with books? When did you start writing?
I won a writing contest in the second grade with a story about a seashell. I haven’t stopped writing since. I’ve been reading since I figured out One Fish Two Fish Red Fish Blue Fish. I think I was five.
Who are your favorite authors to read? What is your favorite genre to read. Who Inspires you in your writings?
R.A. MacAvoy, Elizabeth Peters, Connie Willis, Mary Steward, Anne McCaffrey, Cecilia Holland, Annemarie Selinko, Margaret Mitchell — I’ll read almost any genre if there is a strong female protagonist. I love history, sci-fi, fantasy, and mystery in particular.
Tell us a little about your latest book?
My latest published book is a book of short stories. The photographs that illustrate it were taken by my husband. It’s a family friendly book with stories about kids and parents and grandparents. There is a little bit of fantasy. The stories are ones that I have written over the last twenty years of being a wife, mother, and high school teacher.
