Featured Interview With S. Wills
Tell us a little about yourself. Where were you raised? Where do you live now?
I am 25 years old and currently an Office Manage for a Health and Life Insurance Agency. My goal is to return to college and get my Bachelor’s in Creative Writing which is my passion in life. I wish to create stories that are realistic even though the overall topic is fictional i.e. paranormal romances.
I was born and raised in Baltimore, Maryland but went to college in Frostburg, Maryland then Towson University, in Towson, Maryland. However, I am still living in Baltimore, Maryland with a husband and stepson, who just turned 8 years old.
I married my highschool sweetheart in 2015 and have been happily married ever since. He has been my constant supporter throughout this journey of self-publishing .
At what age did you realize your fascination with books? When did you start writing?
I always had a fascination for reading ever since I was 10 years old. I would read anything that wasn’t put away such as my mother’s mail, the newspaper, back of cereal boxes, etc. But my obsession with paranormal romances began in high school. I remember reading romance novels by Brenda Jackson or Rochelle Alers but one day, I picked up a novel by J.R Ward and I was hooked ever since. The Black Dagger Brotherhood and other similar novels became the world I ventured into to escape my mundane existence. Since high school and on to college, I continued to read and collect books like this as well as general romance novels until I had over 200 books at my perusal.
I began writing my own novel my second year of college. I remember finishing the latest novel by Gena Showalter and couldn’t shake the ideas that were swirling in my mind for my own story. I knew I wanted to write something that was realistic and gave a different ending than what I usually read. I started writing a little every day, here and there until I finally had something that was worth exploring and becoming more.
Who are your favorite authors to read? What is your favorite genre to read. Who Inspires you in your writings?
My favorite authors are J.R Ward, Gena Showalter, Sherrilyn Kenyon, Brenda Jackson and many more.
These authors know exactly how to bring a story to life. They know exactly how to capture the audience attention via details, character interaction and overall narrative.
My favorite genre is romance in general because I love to read about the journey people go through to find and keep a profound love. It gives me hope and makes my spirit smile when I read and finish novels like this.
I am inspired by my favorite authors daily. I always go back and read the novels I have by them and watch their interviews to see how they started and got to where they are today and it makes me want to pursue my dream even more to become a best selling author.
Tell us a little about your latest book?
My book is about a vampire who finds his soul mate after searching for her for centuries. The connection between them is instant, primal, and explosive! However, right after finding each other their love is threatened by a sadistic, master vampire fueled by vengeance for his lost love. As the story unfolds, readers will find themselves on the edge of their seat wondering if love will prevail or if the darkness engulfs them all.
