Featured Interview With Gretchen Jeannette
Tell us a little about yourself. Where were you raised? Where do you live now?
I was born and raised in Chester County, Pennsylvania, where I still reside and work. My husband and I have five babies–er, I mean cats. All five are rescues, our favorite breed. I’m a huge ice hockey fan, a fledgling graphic artist, and an avid enthusiast and researcher of Revolutionary War history.
At what age did you realize your fascination with books? When did you start writing?
One of my earliest memories is learning to read. I loved all of Dr. Seuss’s books, “Winnie the Pooh,” and “The Wind in the Willows,” to name a few of my early favorites. I started writing short stories and poetry in the 5th grade and eventually began crafting full-length books. Despite my passion for the written word, only recently did I seriously pursue a career as a novelist. While I still work a full-time job, writing is and always has been my calling.
Who are your favorite authors to read? What is your favorite genre to read. Who Inspires you in your writings?
I enjoy reading many authors, but one of my favorites is Dale Van Every. His timeless classic, “Bridal Journey,” inspired me to write historical novels. I’m also a fan of David Liss, Dan Sherman and Bernard Cornwell. My favorite genre is historical fiction, primarily American historical fiction, although I do sometimes read modern day espionage novels.
Tell us a little about your latest book?
I’m currently working on “This Day is Ours,” another Revolutionary War novel scheduled for release in early 2018. (Did I mention that I’m fascinated with the legends and heroes of the Revolution?) Following is a brief synopsis:
As the flames of revolution spread across a divided land, a shadowy figure prowls the streets of Philadelphia, preying on silk-stockings loyal to the British Crown. Known only as Jack Flash, rebel highwayman, he plays a daring game of cat-and-mouse for the patriot cause, always one step ahead of his enemies. Until the night he clashes with a lady whose fiery spirit could spell his doom.
