Featured Interview With Bryan Kelsey
Tell us a little about yourself. Where were you raised? Where do you live now?
I spent my days teaching others to follow their dreams until finally one day I decided to follow my own. I quit my job as a teacher and set out on my own path to become a writer. Setting daily writing goals that have increased from a 1000 words a day to 5000, yikes! When I am telling stories I feel most alive. I am also a former rugby player and coach. I have overcome many obstacles in my life to get here, but the best views are after a hard climb anyway. I am just a East Tennessee boy who grew up in way to much humidity. Skye and the One Republic was the book that really made my dreams come true and now everyday is something amazing.
At what age did you realize your fascination with books? When did you start writing?
Writing was actually always a challenge for me growing up. My imagination was amazing, but I had a learning disability. I make no excuses though because I managed to overcome and even got my Masters degree from grad school. Now I love to write, something that finally matches my love for reading.
Who are your favorite authors to read? What is your favorite genre to read. Who Inspires you in your writings?
Tolkien, that name says it all. Lord of the Rings is why I fell in love with reading. Of course Stephen King is as good as it could ever get when it comes to writing. Last one is easy, I mean who doesn’t love Harry Potter?
Tell us a little about your latest book?
I just finished recently going back to a book I wrote a few years ago and doing a complete rebuild like you would on a house you intended to flip. I deleted over 30,000 words! It was painful, but now the story is great! The Wilted Flower of the Streets, a heartwarming story that will pull on your heart strings!
