Featured Interview With Azhar Sabri
Tell us a little about yourself. Where were you raised? Where do you live now?
Azhar Sabri is the author of three books, The Chronic Mansion (2017) in English and Sarhad Ke Us Paar (2015) in Urdu these are the novels and Urdu Poetry Book (2014) was a collection of poetry.
Born in Gaya district Bihar, basically hails from a remote village Belwar, completed my primary education from Public High School, Raniganj and moved to Mirza Ghalib College, Gaya for intermediate education. completed my Bachelor’s degree in English (Hons) from Magadh University, currently pursuing Master of Arts in English literature from School of Open Learning, from Indira Gandhi National Open University.
At what age did you realize your fascination with books? When did you start writing?
I became so fluent in Urdu in 7-8 years so that people used to come to him to get their letters written. Then i moved to Delhi, regularly read Urdu and English newspapers Aalami Sahara and TOI, and inquilaab.
Who are your favorite authors to read? What is your favorite genre to read. Who Inspires you in your writings?
Generally, i read Salman Rushdie and Nasim Hejazi, I read a fiction novel Dastan-e Mujahid, from which I inspired and decided to write something, I began my career with an Urdu poetry then I switched to the fiction writing.
Tell us a little about your latest book?
This is a horror fiction novel written by Azhar Sabri, published by Blue Rose Publishers in February 2017, a story of three school boys who are coming back from a friend’s birthday party at night. They saw a girl who is waiting for help due to over fueling of her car. They were a little drunk and raped her in the chronic mansion. Later they came to know that she was their classmate. They thought that she will complain against them; so, they killed her and what happened afterward…
