Based on the real events of the first world war; this collection is an artistic interpretation of a real-life family tragedy; two brothers killed months apart and only a few hundred miles from each other in 1917 on the Western Front. A collection of how a family deals with this tragedy. This collection is an interpretation of the events leading up to and during the First World War; including the assassination of Archduke Ferdinand, the Russian Revolution, Conscription, what life was like on the front and at home in Australia, it deals with some of the heroes and some of the villains on both sides of the conflict.
Dedicated to my great-grandfather, Benny Gregson Whillance, born 1849, killed in action, Belgium, 27th Septmber, 1917 buried Tyne Cot Cemetery, Zonnebeke, Belgium. And, my great, great uncle Henry John Whillance killed in action , France, March 26th 1917; and to all those who gave the ultimate sacrifice for kith, kin, mates, king and country.
