It is now 2023. After seven years of far-reaching policy changes, the nation is in a period of upheaval. Segregation and racism have become the new norm, and people are struggling to live in a world without affordable health care or proper education. The Trump News Network would have people believe that everything is okay, but to the millions of people who are slipping to the bottom rungs of society, life is anything but fine.
Dr. Brian Williams does his best to help others around him survive in this new world. But after being constantly persecuted for his political beliefs and the color of his skin, his faith in America fades as the anger and hatred that has become so common becomes a part of him.
When he meets a group of people who promise a better alternative, will their hope for a better America be enough to trump the darkness that has spread across their country?
Between studying for my Master’s degree in Education and teaching really smart students in Seoul, South Korea, I’ve discovered that when I do have a little bit of time off, my happy place is a small, mostly deserted island in Thailand (Ko Jum), and I find that living in a bungalow for a few weeks right on the beach is the perfect place for me to focus without any distractions. Also, since the only thing there is a small restaurant, a beach, and a dirt road leading to a village which is five miles away, there’s not much to do besides swim, read, and write.
I have written a couple of well-received books about the human trafficking of children, and I’m currently finishing up a book about life in a North Korean prison camp. I don’t always write about the cheeriest topics, but I try to make them worth reading so that hopefully people can think a little bit about something they may not have known about before.
