The High Arctic. Mid-Winter
Jack Standish, former fighter pilot and now just a freelance bush pilot on the ragged edges of aviation, flies a strange team of scientists to a remote island near Greenland.
Discovering that an old pilot friend is a hostage, under threat of death to fly an obsolete but still lethal supersonic fighter, Standish rescues Phillip Tonquay and tries to escape across the Arctic Ocean in a wild flight for freedom.
It all goes wrong. The two end up at the center of an elaborate plot to destabilize both the United States and Russia at the risk of thermonuclear war.
Ripping at supersonic speeds over the High Arctic; Jack and Phillip fight to outwit the ruthless woman at the heart of the threat.
Cobra Flight is the first of a series of aviation related adventures that mix in deep with the black world of international intelligence and the struggle for world domination.

Starting with the Great Famine of Ethiopia I have traveled from War Zone to Disaster Area and back as a journalist and then as a consultant specializing in communications with local peoples, journalists, relief organizations, and governments. There are very few wars and disasters in the last couple of decades that I haven’t suffered through.
About the only war I seem to have missed since the late eighties has been the hell that was Rwanda and I am heartily glad of it.
I also have a strong background in North American and Arctic Circumpolar Aboriginal issues.
Before becoming a journalist, and now consultant, I was a pilot working mainly in Canada’s Arctic regions and I keep up aviation as a hobby. Cobra Flight is heavily influenced by my background. The High Arctic is rich with stories, legends, and real events that reflect the quiet and intense struggle by nations intent on controlling the region. Some of the anecdotes and tales contained in Cobra Flight were classified but are now part of the lore of the pilot’s north.
I am a British and Canadian citizen living at the moment in Calgary Alberta where I provide strategic communications advice involving Aboriginal and Government issues to energy corporations.
I have raised and worked Border Collies all my life but my current one, Tess, is easily the best sheep dog I have ever had, which is saying something considering the quality of the other dogs.
